Language/s: English

The book retells a classic Japanese tale of a wicked landlord on whose head sprouted a cherry tree after he accidentally swallowed a cherry pit. Spring had finally come and everyone in the village was happy except the miserly landlord. Being crabby and grumpy, he sat alone eating cherries and watching as the villagers sang and danced in the meadow. Then, accidentally, he swallowed a cherry pit. The following spring, the pit began to sprout. And a cherry tree was growing from the top of his head. That is when the misfortune of the landlord starts.
